I recently purchased the Onewind Crystal bridge hammock to test it against my experience with my other bridge hammocks. Given the highly attractive price point, I was curious to see how it would perform, and overall, I am very impressed. It is an absolute winner when it comes to value for money.
Pros:
Fabric & Comfort: The fabric has a nice, comfortable stretch to it, making it very cozy to lie in.
Generous Dimensions: The width and length of the hammock are very generous (as seen in the specifications), ensuring you never feel constricted at all. This should easily hold true even for taller individuals.
Integrated Bug Net: The built-in bug net is well-designed and works flawlessly. It pleasantly leaves a lot of space around your face and body, preventing any claustrophobic feeling.
Suspension Weight: The included suspension system is remarkably lightweight.
Cons & Areas for Improvement:
Suspension & Tree Selection Flexibility: The tree straps are non-adjustable and only 1.50 meters long, which means they won't fit around trees with a larger diameter. On the other hand, when dealing with younger, thinner trees, the straps quickly turn out to be too long. Combined with the "braking distance" inherent to the whoopie sling design, this creates a minimum distance between the suspension point and the hammock that cannot be shortened. As a result, you are more restricted and less flexible when choosing suitable trees. Therefore, I simply use a different, already existing suspension setup instead (in my case, ultra-lightweight daisy chains or tree straps adjustable with cinch buckles).
Hardware/Quality Control: I encountered a minor issue with a zipper loop, which could be constructed a bit better.
Manual: Onewind should definitely improve the included instructions, as they are a bit lacking for beginners.
Conclusion:
Despite the minor flaws and the sparse manual, this hammock is a fantastic budget-friendly addition to my gear. I actually just purchased the new UL version to put it through further testing. If you are looking for a solid bridge hammock without breaking the bank, this is a clear recommendation!
