I used the zipped windsock with my Onewind Vortex 11’ hammock and it worked surprisingly well. I thought it may be slightly claustrophobic but the ridgeline keeps it well off your face and the 2 side windows are well placed so you can see outside. It fell to 2*C when I used it and the windsock does seem to create a micro climate as I was perfectly warm. The was some condensation but you have to expect that when using any type of single skin cover. The only modification I can suggest Onewind consider is to install small tabs inside the top of the windsock so you can attach it to your ridgeline.

It packs down to a tiny size, is negligible in weight, but it fantastically protects the hammock's interior from the cold. It was used in an emergency on one summer camping trip in the mountains, when the nighttime temperature dropped to just 5 degrees Celsius, well below the comfort level of my summer sleeping bag and underquilt. The windsock effectively raised the temperature in the hammock, making that night peaceful and comfortable. As a necessary modification, I recommend making a 3-meter shockcord as a separate ridgeline for the windsock. The manufacturer has included several loops inside the windsock through which you can thread the ridgeline. This prevents the windsock from rotating in the wind and due to your movements in the hammock, and also holds the whole thing a bit higher and provides more space. Cons: The stitching seems low-quality, but this is a minor issue that's easy to fix. The zippers are unbranded, but they are large and work very smoothly, so you don't have to worry about them. An additional advantage for me is that with a windsock it is darker in the hammock, so I can sleep longer in the morning, and this is an important feature for me.

Ever wonder how the Caterpillar stays warm while waiting to change into a butterfly. Add the windsock to your hammock and you will be very close to finding the answer. Although you might not emerge as a butterfly after your restful slumber you will wake into the morning a bit warmer and dryer than even that ole Caterpillar.

I have used the hammock and wind sock several times now since I have purchased it. I find the quality to be very good and since I purchased the 12 foot size for my 6‘4“ frame, I’ve been enjoying the roomy feeling inside. It is surprising how much warmth the wind sock provides from your body heat on cooler nights. I really like the suspension system, which is simpler and quicker than other hammocks that I’ve used in the past. This is my first hammock with a Ridgeline and it is a game changer for me at eliminates the guesss work on how tight you should hang your hammock between two trees. So overall, I’m extremely happy with my purchase.
