Our Hot Sale Hammock Reviews
Let customers speak for us
from 1428 reviewsNow used this in the rain and wind, both as a poncho and Tarp over my Bivy, during a 4 day hike. I'm 5'7" tall and the long poncho doesn't drag on the floor. Very waterproof and vents well depending on how you wear it. Very versatile. I have added shock cord to the corners to help setting up as a tarp, to allow a bit of give in the wind.
I recently purchased the Onewind Crystal bridge hammock to test it against my experience with my other bridge hammocks. Given the highly attractive price point, I was curious to see how it would perform, and overall, I am very impressed. It is an absolute winner when it comes to value for money.
Pros:
Fabric & Comfort: The fabric has a nice, comfortable stretch to it, making it very cozy to lie in.
Generous Dimensions: The width and length of the hammock are very generous (as seen in the specifications), ensuring you never feel constricted at all. This should easily hold true even for taller individuals.
Integrated Bug Net: The built-in bug net is well-designed and works flawlessly. It pleasantly leaves a lot of space around your face and body, preventing any claustrophobic feeling.
Suspension Weight: The included suspension system is remarkably lightweight.
Cons & Areas for Improvement:
Suspension & Tree Selection Flexibility: The tree straps are non-adjustable and only 1.50 meters long, which means they won't fit around trees with a larger diameter. On the other hand, when dealing with younger, thinner trees, the straps quickly turn out to be too long. Combined with the "braking distance" inherent to the whoopie sling design, this creates a minimum distance between the suspension point and the hammock that cannot be shortened. As a result, you are more restricted and less flexible when choosing suitable trees. Therefore, I simply use a different, already existing suspension setup instead (in my case, ultra-lightweight daisy chains or tree straps adjustable with cinch buckles).
Hardware/Quality Control: I encountered a minor issue with a zipper loop, which could be constructed a bit better.
Manual: Onewind should definitely improve the included instructions, as they are a bit lacking for beginners.
Conclusion:
Despite the minor flaws and the sparse manual, this hammock is a fantastic budget-friendly addition to my gear. I actually just purchased the new UL version to put it through further testing. If you are looking for a solid bridge hammock without breaking the bank, this is a clear recommendation!
Good luck finding a better value or more adaptable tarp
Easy ordering, updated & prompt delivery, good packaging.
Set-up videos online helpful to create single + double shelter (using 2).
Found by searching for 'privacy' shelter. Absolutely Love the simplicity of design for multi-purpose uses. It is light weight and packs small in own stuffsack.
Cape is ground length for 5'5" person so take care if hiking in the rain/drizzle.
(Don't forget your hiking poles! :)
Only used it twice so far. I'm using it primarily for Bikepacking so bulk is a major concern and it takes up similar space to my UL tent but considerably more comfortable and once you add in all the peripherals needed for both setups the Hammock ends up slightly lighter and more compact. Hammock itself is well made the buckle system is easier to use than the whoopie slings I have used in the past even if they take up a slight bit more room and weight. The double layer is perfect for sliding an air mattress as that is my preference vs a underquilt as it makes going to ground more manageable when that horror happens.
Super lightweight no frills hammock. Very comfortable, well made and good quality materials. Highly recommended.
Everything I was looking for and great customer service!
I have some experience with bridge hammocks, so I was curious to see how the Crystal would compare. Delivery from China was fast, arriving within 11 calendar days, and the packaging was perfectly fine. For many customers who are not yet familiar with hammocks—and specifically bridge hammocks—a few setup instructions or a link to a corresponding video would certainly be helpful. There was one minor flaw with my unit: a loop on one of the zippers was slightly bent open, causing the pull tab to fall off. I bent the loop back with pliers and threaded a small cord through it, so it wasn't a significant issue.
Regarding the comfort: bridge hammocks should have a suspension angle of 20–25°, and that is how I set up the Crystal. In my opinion, it is extremely comfortable, and I was able to fall asleep in it right away, even on my side. The bug net provides a nice, large distance from the face and body, and it doesn't get in the way even when sitting in the hammock. The almost completely transparent fabric feels stretchy to me, which I find very pleasant.
The included suspension consists of two 1.50m tree straps and whoopie slings with a hook at the end, which clips into the loops of the UHMWPE cords at the head and foot ends of the hammock. This is likely great given the right tree circumferences and distances, but for larger trees, the straps are not long enough. Conversely, for young trees with a small circumference, the non-adjustable straps can quickly be too long. Due to their design, the (very well-made) whoopie slings require a minimum distance from the tree because of their 'bury' or braking distance. If you set up the Crystal with this suspension between two relatively young trees, you need quite a large gap between them. Overall, the suspension works well and is lightweight, but it seems a bit inflexible to me. Therefore, I will use the hammock with my existing lightweight daisy-chain straps (3.65m long); while they are not infinitely adjustable, they offer great flexibility regarding tree distances and are very easy to use.
The Crystal has convinced me, and I will certainly use it frequently alongside my other bridge hammocks. In any case, in addition to its comfort, it is the clear winner in terms of value for money. I would simply recommend that Onewind include operating instructions and perhaps consider a different suspension option.
Awesome tarp, its my go to tarp for my various hammocks I use ...
Good little loops , do what they was made to do 😎
Great little sack for my boots , this is the 2nd one I've bought for my Mrs to use..
Compact, lightweight package but ample room for solo overnighter. Easy and quick to set up. Quality materials and workmanship. I am super happy with yet another great Onewind purchase!
Really great tarp! Lightweight and small to carry. Good quality and wellmade seams. I like that you can make it hexagonal and close the sides for variation. The sidestraps make it easy to use the tarp on uneven ground. I had some trouble with the loopaliens. I didn't think there was enough instructionson how to use them. I tied the tarp with som knots instead and I going to be using my good old faithful camjams instead! All in all: great versatile tarp that I really recommend!
Only tried It ones when It was around -1° celcius. It was totally fine, was varm and toasty all night long. Next on my list from Onewind wil be the Tempest 11"foot hammock, so I can replace my old one from eno😉.
I've been bicycle touring 2 months and a half (september till mid november) in central France, half of the time around 1000m elevation.
I've added a door to it, the OneWind Ultralight Ground Mat (size M), and it worked very good ! It really turns the Shelter into a mini tipi (as the groundsheet is not reinforced you MUST add elastic bungee cord at the four attachement corners). I've been into a violent thunderstorm, constant ligntning for 45 minutes, with strong gust of wind and heavy rain, and I was safe under the shelter, not a single drop of rain on me or my stuff.
If you need more height under the Shelter, simply add elastics bungee cords to all the attachment point, so you can have around 10 cm more height.
I also use the Shelter as a tarp above my 11 feet hammock, once again the groundsheet is required to add a little more length to cover it all (haven't tried under rain though)
A word for the cape function: It works well with a bike, very protective, BUT you need to get it attached to the bike with carabiners + elastics in front, back, and sides otherwise it will fly around. It's okay for few days of rain in a trip. In more rainy area you may want to consider a more heavy cape designed for bicycles.
I'm in love with this Shelter, it's very clever designed, I'm always surprised how this thing protects me, and makes a very small place anywhere in nature a home. I'm 1,87 m tall, of course I touch the sides both at feet and head, not a big deal if you have a synthetic sleeping bag, it dries very quickly. Or you can add a bivvy footbox to your gear.
See the pictures, it is remarquable how discreet this Shelter is, and how it can be pitch in absolutly tiny spaces.
Minimal configuration is 4 stakes, a walking stick and no guyline (even with some wind). That way it can be pitched in around 1 minute.
